There are different kinds of fluoroplastic as seal material in valve manufacturing, below we list some :
PTFE also is named “TEFLON”, PTFE has high impact strength, but tensile strength, wear resistance and creep resistance are worse than other engineering plastics. Fiberglass, bronze, carbon and graphite are sometimes added to improve their special mechanical properties. Its coefficient of friction is almost lower than any other material and has a high oxygen index. The Max. Using temperature of PTFE as seat is 150 ℃.
PFA is kind of Soluble polytetrafluoroethylene. PFA is modified polytetrafluoroethylene to a temperature of 260 degrees C, perfluoroalkoxy resin PFA resins are relatively new melt processable fluoroplastics. PFA has a melting point of approximately 580 °F and a density of 2.13 - (grams per cubic centimeter). PFA is similar to PTFE and FEP, but its mechanical properties are slightly better than FEP at temperatures above 302 °C and can be used at temperatures up to 500 °F. Its chemical resistance is comparable to PTEF. As valve lining material, Max. using temperature is 150 ℃, same as PTFE
PCTFE is inert to most active chemicals at room temperature, and can be dissolved by a few solvents above 212T, or by some solvents, especially chlorinated solvents. PCTFE has excellent gas barrier properties, and the water vapor permeability of its membrane products is low in all transparent plastic films.
The most outstanding advantage of nylon is that its wear resistance is superior to other fibers, and secondly its elasticity is good. So this material can be used for valve lining material and valve sealing material . Using temperature of Nylon is less than 100 degree C.
