Solution treatment is to heat the metal material to specific high temperature which be mentioned on material stardard, hold the temperature for certain time. here take the A182 F316 as sample, heat metal to temperature 1080 degree C, hold this temperature for 3-4 hours, next quench the metal .
Quenching is the process to cool a metal at a more rapid rate, comparing with annealing and normalizing. In ferrous alloys, this process will produce a harder metal, while non-ferrous alloys will usually become softer than normal. Cooling can be done by liquid such as water, oil, a polymer dissolved in water, or a brine. Austenic stainless steel quenched to become fully corrosion resistant, and wearing resistant.
